MINUTES — PUBLIC — TOPONYMY COMMITTEE — 1st meeting — January 27, 2025 — 3:02 p.m. to 4:27 p.m.

The meeting was officially opened with a quorum present. It was noted that this is the final year of the committee's 2024-2025 work plan, with fewer meetings scheduled due to the upcoming municipal elections in November 2025.

The committee formally approved the agenda for the meeting.

Committee members confirmed that no conflicts of interest existed regarding the items on the agenda.

The minutes from the previous meeting held on December 2, 2024, were officially filed.

A citizen requested that the city honor the late Michel 'Bunny' Larocque, a former professional hockey player, by naming an ice surface at the future West Multifunctional Complex after him. The committee noted that his name is already in the city's toponymy bank and they are seeking an appropriate location to commemorate his contributions to the community.

The committee filed its 2024 interim report detailing progress on its work plan. The committee then moved into a closed-door session to discuss specific agenda items.

The committee discussed a petition to rename Limbour Park to Thérèse-Morency Park, which will be reviewed in March 2025. They also discussed potential commemorative naming for Gilles Provost in relation to the 50th anniversary of the Théâtre de l’Île in 2026.
